Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats

For all of you who never have time to make breakfast in the morning, we have you covered with our delicious overnight oats!

Make them the night before in a Mason jar, or old jam jar, and take them with you wherever you need to be.

Overnight oat recipes can be very changeable depending on your personal preference, or the availability of ingredients in your cupboard and fridge. You can use water, milk or an alternative milk of your choice. This is really about your preference! You can always play around with a few before deciding which tastes best to you. We started using coconut milk, but now only ever soak in water overnight, and it feels a lot lighter overall. Below we’ll give you our basic go to, and give you some alternative ideas after.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 4 tablespoons of oats

  • 1 teaspoon of hemp seeds

  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds

  • 1 teaspoon of acai

  • 1 handful of toasted, unsweetened coconut flakes

  • a handful of mixed berries

  • 1/2 banana

  • water to cover

Method

  • Place all your ingredients in the jar, then add the water ensuring that the oats are well covered

  • Close and shake to combine well

  • Leave in the fridge overnight to soak, so that the oats absorb all the liquid

Again, depending on your personal preference, you will have to play around with the quantity of liquid you add, depending on how creamy you want the finished product to be.

We use frozen berries as the defrost overnight, and it is a more cost effective way of having this every day. Here are some ideas for additional or alternative ingredients:

  • mango (frozen works well too)

  • dried raisins

  • a little honey, if you need it to be sweeter

  • flax seeds

  • a sprinkle of cinnamon

  • a few drops of vanilla extract

  • pecans

  • almonds

You get the picture, the options are endless! You can also warm this up quickly too. Let us know what your favorite combination is!
