Sustainable Food Storage

Sustainable Food Storage

As a lot of us head back to the office in the coming days and weeks, we thought that you might find it helpful for us to roundup our favorite sustainable food storage ideas.

During this increased time at home you may have changed the way in which you nourish your body, and want to maintain these new habits as you move out of your home office. There is nothing to stop you bringing in your carefully crafted lunches and snacks, with all these options! With that in mind we wanted to share with you our favorite sustainable storage solutions and brands.

Bee’s Wrap is a family run business, dedicated to reducing waste. Their products are washable, reusable and compostable, meaning that one purchase goes a long long way! The wraps are made from organic cotton that are coated with sustainably sourced beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin. They have plenty of fun designs to pick from!

They donate a percentage of their sales to organisations that support ocean conservancy, beach cleanups, and water stewardship.

Prices start from $5.99, and they ship internationally. You can also get gift cards, which might be a good idea to keep in mind for the holidays!

Rice have a huge selection of fun designs for all occasions. Rice’s products are predominantly made from melamine, meaning that you can use them over and over again. Our current favourites are the bowls with lids (perfect for taking a salad into work with you). We also love the Food Boxes, which are ideal for storing snacks. They also have bigger packs of storage boxes, ideal if you have a family to meal prep for! The plethora of fun designs mean that you will find something to please everyone of every age.

Just beware of the fact that while melamine can be washed in the dishwasher, it cannot be put in the microwave.

The Eco Warrior have a great selection of products for lunch on the go, that we just love! The Joco Cup is perfect for coffee or tea on the go; plastic free and dishwasher safe, it couldn’t make any more sense to always have one to hand! The insulated container is perfect for the coming colder months to bring something warm with you, and the pistachio colour is our favorite! There are also the single or stackable bento boxes, that come in different sizes, allowing you to bring some variety with you too!

There are so many other fantastic products that you can integrate into every aspect of your life on this website. It really shows how so many small changes can contribute to a big change for our planet.

IKEA have really upped their game on the sustainability front in recent years. Their current aim is for all the materials in their products to be renewable and recyclable, by 2030. They are currently 60% of the way there!

They have a and have a great selection of glass containers. Some with bamboo lids, which are great for when you’re on the move. They also have others that have a mixture of glass and plastic lids, which are perfect for freezing. You can use the glass base in the oven and as a serving dish, which also saves on extra washing afterwards. What’s not to like?! Great value for money also makes these a very attractive option.

We hope that you find these ideas helpful, and are able to find new and sustainable ways to bring your snacks and meals with you, wherever you go!
