Nonna Knows Best: Natural Mosquito Repellents

With the warmer days come some of our most undesirable friends: mosquitoes!

Not only do their bites itch like crazy, they also can leave marks. And needless to say, that trying to eat, relax or sleep with the buzz of these little creatures can be challenging, if not impossible.

To help you conquer mosquitoes in a friendly way and enjoy your summer evenings peacefully, LIDO has put together a list of natural mosquito repellants!

*Pelargonium Geranium*

This variety of geranium is a smart buy that can save you money on chemical repellents.
The foliage of this fragrant flower, when crumpled, emits an odor that varies with the variety. Pick the one called "Citronnella", which emits a lemongrass scent that mosquitoes hate.
Colorful and efficient, it’s the perfect time to add some pelargonium geranium on your balcony or in your garden!

*Basil*

It’s not just good in your plate!
With its smell bringing back memories of the Mediterranean, basil is a great anti-mosquito plant. You can use it to decorate and fill in with fragrance your outdoor spaces or even rub it gently against your skin.

*Rosemary*

Rosemary is an essential aromatic plant for your garden: it repels insects and attracts butterflies. Also, delicious to have it on fish, meat or a veggie focaccia.

*Lavender*

Lavender has many benefits. It makes your closet smell good, it’s essential oil is a great relaxing companion if sprayed on your pillow and its strong yet lovely scent repels mosquitoes.
So, how about a few lavender plants on your patio to keep them these insects away while you sip on your glass of rosé?

And of course, essential oils...

- Lemon eucalyptus
- Thyme
- Citronella
- Cedarwood
- and much more
... Using a diffuser or burning natural candles
